Zainab's Eggless Challah

Recipe by:zainab

Makes 2 Large loaves.

3 cups white flour.

3 cups whole wheat flour.

1/4 cup oat flour.

1/4 cup sugar.

1/2 Tablespoon salt.

1 1/2 Tablespoons yeast.

1/4 cup olive oil.

2 1/2 -2 3/4 cups warm water.

1)Place all ingredients in the bowl of mixer ,beat 10 minutes to make a soft dough.

2)Cover and let rise for one hour.

3)Divide dough into two halves first, then cut each half into six equal lumps.




4)You can watch maya to see how she braid the dough with six strands.




5)Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.




6)Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.


7)Serve it with honey ,sultana and raisin.

A braided bread !! Tat was soo lovely. I dunno why always my bread comes out dry or uncooked inside, however hard i try to bake it perfectly ! :-( This one looks so cute, i am gonna try it. Does it become crispy bread with a bit hard crust or is it soft? and what kind of curries can one have with it? gravy curries or dry ones?!

Thank you very much for all your comments in our blog.

*my challah is so soft.
I think the bread become crispy with a bit hard crust when you use sourdough starter.

*I Will Give you some tips on baking bread and I am Sure that it will make your bread succeed every time.

1)Always Preheat the oven at least 30 minutes before baking.

2)knead your dough 10 minutes.

3)make your dough soft.(not too dry or not too wet.

4)if the bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when you tapped ,you know that your bread is cooked.

Finally,i think the two curries will be fine.
The challah Very good for breakfast,French Toast,Sandwiches,and croutons.
I even dry this bread to make Saudi Shabora and eat it with (Milk with tea).
