Dear Zainab,

I am a diabetic so as much as possible I try to omit sugar from my cooking. The sugar in your recipe is 5 Tblsn. If I lessen the sugar, will there be any difference to the texture of the bread. And is there substitute or can I omit the sugar altogether? Thank you

@ZaraBee,
yes you can omit the sugar.
my mom also a type 2 diabetic and i started 3 years ago to modify my recipes  & use more milled whole grain  mixed with whole wheat . i only use 1/4 tsp dates molasses or pinch of sugar & you can easily omit it.

But you need to use more water as the whole wheat & grain tend to absorb more liquid.

Hope this help.
