Nurit,
Thank you for stopping by,hope you like it :D
naila,
Actually I don't recommend that you replace it with any thing, because date molasses is the key Ingredient in this recipe.
you can replace it with honey or any other syrup but will not taste as good as date molasses.
& I always use US cup.

Hello,
Is date molasses is dates honey?
Is it possible to replace the cardamom with something else?
Thank you
Anonymous,
Date molasses is (thick syrup made from pressed dates, you can find it in Arabic specialty shops or health store.
Cardamom goes well & taste so good with date molasses.
if you like you can replace it with your favorite flavor (try Ginger
or Anise or Fennel)
but cardamom still the best choose when it come to this recipe :)
hope this help :)

Greetings from Toronto, Canada. I am about to make your cake - I had to select the webpage and paste the select all into a word document to get the recipe down to under two pages. When I printed from the webpage, only the first photo and ingredients list printed - you may want to check into this.
Anyway - I wanted to tell the story of my jar of date molasses - bought from my local Lebanese shop which has been here for at least 20 years. One day last summer, the owner suggested that I try the date molasses (and expand my horizons beyond the usual dates, hummus, pita, etc). When I asked how to use it, I learned that he mixes the molasses with tahini for a really rich spread or dip. But we do not eat much jam or sweet spread, so I have been searching the internet for a recipe to use larger amounts of date molasses and was thrilled to find yours. I am only now getting the time to bake it! thank you very much. will report on my baking results later. dawn bazely
Asalamwalikam,
First time here,
the cake is Beautifulll...!!!
i will try your recipe, please do check my blog too and would to add you..:)http://hyderabadicuisinerecipes-angel.blogspot.com/
These look delicious! though I think 7 cups of flour is rather a lot!! I wonder if they could be made with wholemeal flour only.
Also, could you tell me how many servings this recipe makes?
Thanks :)
